Highways
Marshall
County has been put in a prime position for economic and industrial development
because of the access from all sections of the county to interstate or four-lane
highways that have been built or proposed.
U. S. Highway 78, which runs from Memphis to Birmingham and Atlanta, has been designed as the new Interstate 22. Highway 78 serves industrial parks in Byhalia, Holly Springs and Potts Camp.
U. S. Highway 72 runs across the northern section of Marshall County connecting Memphis to Huntsville and Chattanooga.
Just west of Mount Pleasant, State Highway 302, a four-lane route, intersects with Highway 72. It connects Highway 72 to Highway 78 at Olive Branch and Interstate 55 at Southaven.
The proposed Interstate 69, which will run from Canada to Mexico, will pass through the northern section and down the western boundary of the Chickasaw Trail Industrial Park. I-69 will connect the park with Interstate 40 within 17 miles.
The network of major highways forming a triangle around the Chickasaw Trail Industrial Park, and upgrade designation of Highway 78 which serves the industrial bases of the county, position Marshall County to be in the prime location of economic and industrial development.
