Marshall County is one of three applicants to receive a grant for a workforce training center.  Justin Hall, executive director of Marshall County Industrial Development Authority, said the county has been notified it will receive a $3.12 million grant to build a workforce training center. East Mississippi Community College was awarded $4 million and Itawamba Community College will receive $2 million for workforce training centers, he said.

The center will work with existing industry and new industry to provide training. There will be classroom space, laboratory space and flexible space that can be used by industry to train prospective employees for their work sites, he said. Hall also said that he expects industry to train employees or upgrade the training of employees at the center and provide some of their own equipment to do that.

A location for the center in Marshall County has yet to be determined.
