The Mississippi Economic Development Council announces the Niagara Bottling Inc. project has won the 2017 Community Economic Development Award.

The CEDA program is a “Best Practices” program intended to recognize exceptional contributions of communities in the State of Mississippi for the following efforts – business retention and expansion, business recruitment, community development, and community involvement.

The Marshall County Board of Supervisors and Marshall County Industrial Development Authority worked closely with MDA, TVA, North Mississippi IDA, and the Appalachian Regional Commission in an effort to locate Niagara Bottling LLC in Marshall County.

Niagara Bottling LLC is the nation’s largest private label beverage supplier, and manufactures tea, sport drinks, and bottled water.

Niagara showed interest in a Marshall County industrial site in September 2016 and moved quickly through the site selection process. Niagara purchased a 554,000-square-foot speculative building in the Chickasaw Trail Industrial Park.

After purchasing the building, Niagara made modifications to the facility to meet its needs and began production in April of 2017. This facility serves all bottle manufacturing, bottling, and warehouse needs for Niagara Bottling LLC, in the Mid-South Region.

The project represented a $78 million capital investment and created 57 new jobs for Marshall County and Mississippi.

Marshall County, MDA, and TVA worked closely together on this project to ensure all timelines and goals were met. The Appalachian Regional Commission and MDA provided assistance for public infrastructure improvements on the project. All local utilities involved were instrumental in meeting the project needs and getting the facility operational as quickly as possible.

Niagara Bottling LLC is a wonderful addition to Marshall County and the State of Mississippi, said Justin Hall, executive director of the Marshall County IDA.

In 2015, Marshall County won the North Mississippi Industrial Development Authority’s Industry of the Year Award for its work with Roxul.
